Unveiling the Journey
BIO

JAMILLA KABONGO-BAH (Jah-meal-ah Kah-bon-go-Bah) is a Congolese-Sierra Leonean graduate of the University of Toronto Mississauga, where she earned an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) degree in Psychology. Through her memoir, The Glow Up: Ascending in My Twenties, poetry, paintings, and public engagements, she combines her passion for critical thinking, advocacy, and sports. Her goal is to inspire and empower individuals, particularly young people, to overcome their childhood traumas so they can lead happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
The Glow Up: Ascending in My Twenties, a bestseller in the categories of “Biographies of Women for Young Adults” and “Family & Childhood Biographies & Memoirs” within the first few days of its pre-order release and thereafter, has been deemed “inspiring and well executed” by a member of the Canadian Authors Association. Jamilla has also been interviewed about her memoir by a journalist from Burlington Local-News. In addition to this, her art piece, “Flower Garden,” and poem, “Butterfly Wings,” which she performed at R.I.S.E Edutainment’s Open Mic Event in 2025, have both been featured in pulp MAG.
Jamilla was part of the R.I.S.E Edutainment's first cohort of Pen to Pitch: The Artrepreneur’s Journey program, where she won first place at the 2026 Spoken Word Pitch Slam Finals. She aims to release her own collection of poetry in the near future.
Ms. Kabongo-Bah will be offering book consulting services soon.
